On 16 and 17 July 2026, members of the Research Training Group CorMic (GRK 3103) travelled to Berlin for a two-day excursion. Numerous members of IMN took part, including the project Principal Advisors and several doctoral researchers.
The scientific programme began at the BESSY II synchrotron facility at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, where the participants gained insights into its research infrastructure and diverse scientific applications. The group subsequently visited the HySPRINT innovation platform, learned about current research in photovoltaics and toured the associated JointLab and experimental facilities.
On the second day, a guided visit to the German Bundestag and a boat trip along the River Spree provided opportunities to explore Berlin’s political, historical and cultural landscape.
Combining scientific exchange, interdisciplinary networking and shared activities, the excursion strengthened connections among the doctoral researchers and senior scientists involved in CorMic.
